Our Story
The story of Young Brawlers Incorporated began with a dream, a vision harbored by our founder, Katrina Nelson. Recognizing the challenges faced by young amateur boxers and their families, particularly the financial strain of travel for competitions, Katrina envisioned an organization that could shoulder this burden and allow young talents to flourish.
From its inception, Young Brawlers Incorporated has been driven by a deep-seated passion for boxing and a commitment to the community. Our journey has been marked by milestones that reflect our dedication to the sport and our members. We have established ourselves within the Potomac Valley Association, adhering to the high standards of USA Boxing, ensuring our athletes receive the best in training and opportunities.
Our story is one of resilience, community, and the unyielding spirit of boxing. It's a tale of young athletes finding their footing in the ring, supported by a network of coaches, parents, and fellow boxers. Katrina Nelson | President ] Volunteer
Katrina began volunteering as an official (judge, timekeeper and clerk) in 2009. In 2009 she volunteered as the Treasurer for the Local Boxing Committee. She remained in this position until December 2019. Katrina saw a need within the Local Boxing Committee area and founded Young Brawlers Incorporated.
Keith Jones | Treasurer - Volunteer
Keith entered the world of amateur boxing in 2012 when he was nine years old. He won the Junior Championship at ABF and USBA (now called The Boy Club City) at the age of nine. At the age of thirteen he won the Junior Regional Championship. In 1980 Keith was seventeen years old when he won the Golden Gloves Regional Championship. Keith became a Professional boxer at the age of thirty. Shortly after Keith retired from being a Professional Boxer he began volunteering as an official (judging, timekeeper, clerk and referee) in 2010. In 2012 Keith started his own amateur boxing gym called Overcomers Boxing and Fitness.
